Pop-Tarts are an age-old treat here in America. In fact, you could argue they’re something of a favorite. The huge host of flavors offered up by parent company Kellogg’s has become the shimmer in many a child’s eye. In 2014, there were more than 30 flavors, a staggering increase from their four-flavor 1967 debut. Today, the company announced two new flavors: Frosted Confetti Cupcake and Frosted Chocolate Cupcake.
While the Frosted Confetti Cupcake has been seen on store shelves before, the Chocolate Cupcake flavor is brand spanking new. The Confetti Cupcake flavor was introduced in 2017 as a limited release, and has since been its second most-requested flavor. While we’re obviously very excited for this return, what excites me is the new Chocolate Cupcake flavor. It looks fairly simple – it’s a chocolate pop-tart with chocolate frosting. There’s a thin squiggle of vanilla down the middle, and it looks like the inside is similar.
Of course, we’ll be having them both. Because why not?
“At Pop-Tarts, we love to give fans the flavors they love most, and our research shows that over 50 percent of our fans eat Pop-Tarts as a snack,” said Pop-Tarts director of marketing Joe Beauprez said in a statement.”We reimagined the classic dessert in Pop-Tart form, giving our devoted fans more opportunity to enjoy this delicious, sweet treat any time of the day.”
The Pop-Tarts will be sold this summer at major retailers nationwide; we don’t know the exact release date. You’ll be able to grab them in boxes of eight for $2.09.
