New Montgomery restaurant That’s My Dog Jr. run by teenagers

Grab a hot dog at this Montgomery restaurant operated exclusively by teenagers!

Restaurants all have their own, unique calling card. Maybe it’s an awesome theme or an array of outside-the-box dishes. More often than not, these are the places that seem to resonate and stick around. A new restaurant fitting that bill just opened in Montgomery on Monday, and this one is absolutely impressive. It’s a hot dog shop that’s operated exclusively by teenagers. The spot is called That’s My Dog Jr. and is named after another classic Montgomery establishment.

That’s My Dog Jr. is the latest effort to come out of larger group That’s My Child. The group is a nonprofit whose mission is “to mentor the youth through arts, education, and entrepreneurship, while giving them a safe place to development their talents, and skills needed to become tomorrow’s productive citizens.”

That’s My Child attends a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game at Riverwalk Stadium.

The That’s My Child organization was founded in 2012 by Montgomery resident Charles Lee, who grew up in “the rough, gang-riddled streets of Chicago.” This inspired him to donate his time and effort into creating the organization, and by extension, That’s My Dog Jr.

That’s My Dog Jr. offers patrons an opportunity to support That’s My Child while at the same time grabbing some tasty food. Lee told us that nobody is a customer at the restaurant because they are all donors. He affectionately referred to the community as one big family.
