See this One-of-a-Kind ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ Lights Display

'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' is a can't-miss part of anyone's holiday season.

It’s a holiday classic, and it’ll be remembered forever as one of the all-time greats: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a can’t-miss part of anyone’s holiday season. Whether you’re young or old, this raunchy comedy brings laughs and good cheer to most everyone who watches.

And it would appear that Wetumpka’s backing us up on all of this, as well. One resident transformed his entire home into a Christmas lights display featuring characters and set pieces from the movie.

You can get to the display by heading out to 707 River Oaks Ct Wetumpka, AL, 36092.

Wynn Sanford, owner of the home and display, said that opening night was completely packed. The streets were jammed, he says, because so many people wanted to see what was happening.

Because of the display’s popularity, Sanford said he plans to keep the attraction running through Christmas.

We had only planned on last night during the city judging but the request for other nights were so big that we are going to try each weekend til Christmas.

He says that mannequins will replace live actors on weekdays; live performances will occur on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:30 pm. These will last until about 8:00 pm, so the drive out to Wetumpka is totally worth the effort!

But you can stop by and see the display on any given day – although, we’d suggest going at night for full effect.

It’s an easy way to spice up the holidays – especially if you’ve got family coming into town and want to show them something unique. Don’t be sad, have a “hap, hap, happiest Christmas” like the Griswolds!
