In Partnership with the Southern Weekend

This 10-year-old wrote a song about Wetumpka’s ‘Coosa Cleaver’ restaurant

The Coosa Cleaver continues to be a place of fun and food in Wetumpka!

The Coosa Cleaver is one of Wetumpka’s newer institutions, opening at the end of 2018 to much applause. We’d venture to say it’s one of the area’s best restaurants, as well – and you don’t have to take our word for it. Both the bar and restaurant are packed out every weekend! Plus – one customer swung by on Sunday to literally sing his praises of the business.

On Sunday, 10-year-old Spencer Allen walked into the restaurant with guitar in-hand to show off a song he’s been writing. The song is appropriately titled “The Coosa Cleaver,” and it pays tribute to the folks who work at the restaurant as well as its patrons.

“Water that’s just fine,” Allen sang. “Most people prefer wine at The Coosa Cleaver.”

After he was done performing, Allen’s song was met with applause from everyone in the room.

Beth Boswell, manager of The Coosa Cleaver, said that Allen is a true firecracker. The first thing he asked Boswell when he met her was: “Are you tired because you been running through my mind all night.”

“The next time he came in he had a song for us but we were too busy,” Boswell said. “He came back last night and sang it for us.”

So, it goes without saying… if you’re looking for good food and good times, then you’ve got a clear choice – head down and enjoy some drinks and food at this new Wetumpka business!
