Top 10 most-visited Alabama tourist attractions in 2018

Alabama the beautiful has a host of great places to explore. Whether you're heading out to see her gorgeous, nature-filled views or just want to have a craft beer in the city, it's all here. But what sites did Alabamians visit the most in 2018? The Alabama Tourism Board has finally released the numbers; this list only includes locations that you must pay to enter.

10. Alabama Splash Adventure

Alabama Splash Adventure has fun for all ages, and is one of the few water parks that Alabamians have access to. It’s located in Bessemer, AL, meaning that they are a short drive for the aspiring Alabama tourist.

9. Montgomery Zoo

The Montgomery Zoo is one of Alabama’s premiere destinations if you want to learn more about wildlife. They recently added a new stingray exhibit, and are constantly expanding to make your experience even better.

8. Adventureland Theme Park

Adventureland has go-karts, arcade games, putt-putt and more. Like Alabama Splash Adventure, they’re one of the few opportunities you’ve got for thrills inside Alabama state lines.

7. Point Mallard Park

Point Mallard Park has activities for everyone, including skating, golf, and – what they claim is – America’s first-ever wave pool. They’ve got a ton of festivals that happen year-round, so check them out!

6. USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park

The USS Alabama is perhaps Mobile’s most popular attraction. Visitors can explore a real-life, World War II battleship; there’s also a complete submarine from the same era that you can walk through, as well.

5. McWane Science Center

The McWane Science Center certainly involves science – but don’t let its name fool you. The organization takes fun seriously, too. Kids get a taste of science like they’ve never had before – whether it’s via a perfectly safe bed of nails or a tightrope-suspended bicycle.

4. Barber Vintage Motorsports Park

Barber Motorsports Park and Museum is home to a ton of vintage cars. You can get your old-school automobile fix during a visit here, or attend one of the many year-round events that they play host to.

3. Huntsville Botanical Garden

2. Birmingham Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo is the largest such institution in the state of Alabama – and it’s located inside the largest city we’ve got, as well! Folks flock from around Alabama – and indeed the South – to visit the Birmingham Zoo’s year-round attractions.

1. U.S. Space and Rocket Center

It’s a perfect definition of “oldie-but-goodie.” The Huntsville Space and Rocket Center is – without contest – the most popular attraction across Alabama.  People come here from across the globe to take part in Space Camp, and the grounds have numerous attractions for the older visitors. Attendance at the center increased by more than 50,000 people in one year!
